Hindrances to prayers

Prayer is the most valuable asset of faith for any believer and whoever invests in prayer has hidden in his heart the greatest treasure that the enemy cannot steal or destroy. However, those who desire to invest in it must guard against some forces that would oppose effective praying.

 Spiritual strongholds in heavenly realms

Daniel10:1-13. Daniel took twenty one days to fast and pray but his answer to this pray was delivered the first day he begun the prayers. The Bible records that for the twenty one days that he was in prayer there was a prince of Persia who withheld the angel carrying his answer to his prayers. There evil forces in the heavenly realms that hinder our breakthroughs making our prayer lives difficult.  2Cor 10: 3-4 we don’t fight against flesh and blood but against forces of darkness in spiritual realms. But thanks to being God that we have the archangel Jesus Christ who destroyed the devil and his cohorts so that our prayers may receive breakthroughs.

Hidden Sins

Proverbs 28:13 “He that covers his sin shall not prosper and whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall receive mercy”. Sin in our lives is great hindrance to our prayers that why Jesus urged to ask God to forgive our sins as a part of the Lord’s Prayer. David tried to seek the Lord when he sinned by killing Uriah the husband to Bathsheba after committing adultery with her but it never worked until he confessed the sins he had committed. Psalm 51 is great prayer for confession that David did and this serves as a great encouragement to us today. 1John 1:8-10 confessions of our sins attracts the presence of God in our lives for God dwells in holiness and righteousness. It is puts God to act on our behalf in any battles because He defends his own. Joshua 7:1-2 Achan hind some items after they went for battle in Ai and this led to the first and the only battle that Joshua is seen to have lost but when the sin was removed God told him that Ai is placed in his hand Joshua 8:1. Psalm 66:18 “if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me”

Dishonoring or disrespecting your wife

1Peter 3:7 “Likewise ye husband, dwell with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor unto them, as weaker vessels and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be HINDERED”. Good relationship between a man and his wife I especially in the family is vital tool to our prayer-lives. If the relationship in the family is sour then prayers do not receive answers but are blocked. God honors family unity and where there is this unity He commands a blessing and life forever more Psalm 133. Let us endeavor to keep a bond of love and respect each other in the family so that our prayers will not be hindered.
